There’s a growing consensus that all Storage Locker shows are staged and scripted. Let’s go through them
1 Storage Wars
This one seems the most legit out of all of them. I never get the impression that the auction isn’t real. I always feel that those guys are always there to make money at their primary businesses. A lot of that has to do with the gamble. Every one has lost on a locker, and it’s not uncommon. The only thing I’d say is scripted are the talking head bits that take us out of the action.
2. Auction Hunters
This is where things get a bit more muddled. Apparently these guys travel the country looking for lockers. They always get incredible finds and never lose on lockers. Never, not once. At the end of an episode they get an item appraised, and then sell it to the appraiser. Always. I definitely smell a rat. There’s nothing to suggest that they really are hobos that travel the country in a van to sell other people’s junk. There’s zero conflict because they always make a ton of money. It’s just win, win win. So I think this is completely scripted and wonder how this is staged. I sort of buy that they really did this before they got the show, and it’s possible that they only show the good lockers. So it really could be the editing making these guys look like winners. Then again they never show the money exchanging hands. Something stinks
3. Storage Hunters
There is no question every part of this is scripted and fake. I just want to know how they come up with ideas for the locker contents. Do they use a set? Where’s the casting call ad for extras? I am fascinated as to the level everything is scripted, or why I am supposed to root for the couple. They seem like a bunch of assholes.
